Dr. Liisa Honey

Liisa PhotoDr. Liisa L. Honey is the Department Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Medical Director of the Maternal Newborn Program at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa.
Dr. Honey completed her BsCH at Queen’s University and moved onto the University of Western Ontario to complete her M.D. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 1999.

Prior to joining Queensway Carleton Hospital, she spent time in Uganda with the FIGO Save the Mothers Project. Her work in Uganda was focused on Maternal Mortality Reduction in rural settings.
She is presently a Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine Department of OB/GYN at the University of Ottawa. She is Chair of the MORE OB risk management program at Queensway Carleton Hospital and is part of the Medical Advisory Executive team for the hospital.
She completed a Master’s Certificate in Physician Leadership Development through the Schulich School of Business and more recently a Master’s level course in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety through the Telfer School of Business. Her current quality improvement focus is on caesarean section reduction and enhanced recovery programs for gynaecologic surgeries.
